Formula DRIFT Schedule 2020: Dates to Know
Fans and drivers alike are raring to get races started with the updated Formula DRIFT schedule for the 2020 season. This season’s races kick off at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on July 3–4, which is both Independence Day weekend and a return to the track where the inaugural Formula DRIFT event took place. Celebration will be firing on all cylinders!
The current schedule plans for the completion of an eight-round Formula DRIFT Championship and allows for international teams to join. Executives at Formula DRIFT have made statements to be fully transparent with their fans that these dates are subject to change depending on health concerns caused by COVID-19, but as we near the start date it seems the races will start Independence Day weekend as planned.

Where to Find the Action on tour Formula DRIFT Schedule
July 3–4, 2020: Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta
The road to the championship begins at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Recognized as one of the world’s best road courses and one of Georgia’s top entertainment centers, this raceway is a 2.5- mile, 12-turn, world-class road course. You can be sure that a course as challenging as this one will make for a great race.
Situated 35 miles from Atlanta, the track is a short distance to resorts offering comfort and amenities, including championship golf courses and European-style spas, which guests are encouraged to take advantage of between the races.
July 23–25, 2020: Old Bridge Township Raceway Park
Although Old Bridge Township Raceway Park no longer holds the drag racing events that it was once fabled for, this course is still home to multiple motorsport activities, including motocross, go-kart racing, and drifting. The park even hosts classes on drifting, so if you’re feeling like a competitor after seeing the Formula DRIFT race, this is the place to learn to drift.
Ranking among the country’s top five tracks, Old Bridge Township Raceway Park has hosted popular events including the SuperNationals of the National Hot Rod Association for Funny Car and Top Fuel competitions.
August 6–8, 2020: World Wide Technology Raceway
The crossroads of Formula DRIFT meet at the World Wide Technology Raceway, a staple of the racing world. The oval and road courses date back to the mid-’90s, and its third track is made up of several super-sharp turns for drivers to really display their drifting skills.
Located in Madison, Illinois, just east of St. Louis, this raceway has undergone revamps and expansions over the past few years to now include a world-class karting facility and an improved fan pavilion.
This raceway is just 18 miles near Lamber–St. Louis International airport for a close, convenient trip once you have landed.
August 21–22, 2020: Irwindale Speedway
Irwindale Speedway sees the Formula DRIFT schedule nearing its halfway point—and what a track to take the season up a notch.
Nicknamed the House of Drift, this venue is one of the most popular courses for crowds and drivers, and it tests the skills of the drivers with its unforgiving concrete walls. The House of Drift has hosted a number of popular drifting events, including D1 Grand Prix’s first overseas event in 2003 with a sold-out crowd. Also home to a number of domestic drifting series, this venue can accommodate 15,000 spectators. Deep into the summer season, the racers will be ready to bring the heat in sunny California.
September 11–13, 2020: Sonoma Raceway
The Battle of the Bay takes place at Sonoma Raceway on a monster of a course. This hilly raceway has twelve turns but is noted for turns two and three with the inside of the turn higher than the outside, which provides a fun challenge for the drivers.
Known to have hosted one of only three NASCAR Cup Series, this raceway also has a strong commitment to drifting by hosting weekly drifting events.
September 25–26, 2020: Evergreen Speedway
Drivers throw down at Evergreen Speedway, an establishment among drifting and car racing fans alike. For over 60 years, Evergreen has played host to amateurs, aspiring professionals, and seasoned veterans, making it the marquee racing facility in the Northwest region and a training ground for rising racing stars.
Fans can experience the races from a covered grandstand that seats up to 7,500 people rain or shine, plus additional seating for 5,000 more.
October 15–17, 2020: Texas Motor Speedway
Formula DRIFT’s semi-final event is a showdown at Texas Motor Speedway. This oval track is 1.5 miles with four sharp turns that will surely keep fans on the edges of their seats. Plus, by visiting this speedway, you will be in the presence of racing history, with a large number of records having been made on this very course.
November 20–21, 2020: Irwindale Speedway
Fans and drivers return to Irwindale Speedway for the 2020 Formula DRIFT schedule finale. Drivers will be screeching their tires and whipping around the turns in an effort to claim the title while fans cheer them on. You won’t want to miss the end to this spectacular season!
